Two of my mother’s carers with health issues, a sister in law on a yoga course, and an old schoolfriend have all asked me just lately to recommend some beginner guided meditations for them and certain members of their families. Bizarrely enough, given that we are so into meditation in this Buddhist tradition, and that Kadampas are guiding meditations for people all over the world every day, I didn’t have a ready list to send them. We have some excellent podcasts emerging (The Modern Buddhism Podcast) and we have a lot of teachings available online, but I haven’t seen as many guided meditations.
Wandering around Hyde Park today, that schoolfriend told me that, taking matters into his own hands, he had dug out some “really good stuff” from Kadampa teachers online, and that both he and his son are getting a lot out of them. Whereupon it occurred to me that I can indeed compile a short readily available list for people who ask. So here it is. Feel free to add more favorites in the comments below.

One of my favourite Kadampa meditations is the OM AH HUM combining breath with mantra, really good when you’re worried about something. Had a quick search but don’t seem to find a video for this meditation, I’m sure it’s out there somewhere?
I agree, it’s a really good one.
I haven’t seen it anywhere myself.
This is great, thank you! Another one: turning the mind to a block of wood:
